NORWAY X NEW YORK

Vera & Kyte and Ladies & Gentlemen sought to challenge traditional lighting archetypes through their collaborative piece, Krane -the result of the studios’ shared affinity for simple, playful and sophisticated designs.  The resulting lighting juxtaposes primary shapes that work in concert to create a versatile, user-defined approach to multiple interior situations.  Its arch pulley, glass shade, and floor weight, encourage users to adjust it according to location and need.

Materials: Glass diffusers and anodized steel.

Dimensions: W 450mm/750mm, H Adjustable, Ø100mm.

Prototype

Krane was developed as part of ‘Norway x New York’ – a cross-cultural exchange pairing five entrepreneurial American studios with five up-and-coming Norwegian studios, who together spent six months working long-distance on objects that utilize an American workshop for fabrication and that can be independently manufactured for future sales.  The project was initiated by Sight Unseen founders Monica Khemsurov and Jill Singer. The result is Norway x New York, a collection of collaborative furniture and lighting debuting at Sight Unseen OFFSITE -2016
