Rain River is an object made to inspire outdoor play and activity where the rain is pouring.
The objects have a minimalistic expression and structure in order to open for an imaginative and free interaction.
We do not want to “stear” the activity, but rather facilitate creativity and leave the objects open to interpretation.

How can we expand our creative practices through acts of care and empathy?
Rain River aims to inspirecuriosity and a playful use of the existingenvironment. Bergen has well over 200 days ofrain on average each year. With this project we wanted to make objects for children where thebad weather would be an attraction. The objectshave a minimalist expression and structurein order to open for an imaginative and freeinteraction. We do not want to steer the activity, but rather facilitate creativity and leave theobjects open to interpretation.
Seeing the potential children see in what we as adults consider bad weather was our main inspiration. Our experience and observations of children’s naturalattraction towards play with water, whether this be puddles, fountains or water hoses was a base reference for our project.
